Q&A

What sensors are compatible with the X3-SUB data logger?
down-arrow
The X3-SUB data logger is compatible with sensors that support a native SDI-12, RS-485, or RS-232 output. The X3-SUB also supports tipping bucket rain gauges. Analog sensors (0-5 VDC, 4-20mA, etc.) can be integrated using an analog-to-digital adapter (mV-RS485-MC).
How are sensors connected to the X3-SUB data logger?
down-arrow
The X3 data logger utilizes industry-standard MCIL/MCBH wet-mate connectors. The sensor ports are 8-pin male (MCBH-8-MP), so a 8-pin female (MCIL-8-FS) connector is needed on the sensor cable. If sensor cables aren't already terminated with this connector, customers can send in their sensor cable for a connectorization service (MCIL-8-FS-X). Alternatively MCIL-8-FS-1 pigtail cables are available for customers to wire/splice at their facility.
What power options are available for the X3-SUB data logger?
down-arrow
The most common power scenarios for the X3-SUB data logger are internal SLA battery (BAT-A04) with solar charging from a CB-75 data buoy, internal 20 D-cell alkaline battery pack (BAT-20D), or external 12VDC power from a flying lead cable (MCIL-6-MP-x). For shore-mounted applications, a SA2122 power adapter cable is available to work with any of the X3 data logger power accessories including SP-Series solar power packs, UW6-PW AC power adapters, and UW6-BB battery backups.
Can the X3-SUB data logger be integrated on a data buoy?
down-arrow
The X3-SUB is IP68 waterproof rated and designed to be integrated on the CB-75/CB-75A data buoys. The data logger could also be integrated on 3rd party data buoy platforms using the internal alkaline battery pack or external 12VDC power.
