Founded out of a commitment to protect one of our most vital resources, Base Flow has been working to conserve water resources since 2013. The company’s early years were spent working with fish farms to help monitor key parameters and optimize production. Today, Base Flow has expanded to become a leading distributor of oceanographic and hydrological monitoring equipment in Mexico and South America.
Over the years, the company has been involved in a number of key projects throughout the region.
Pierre Daniel, Marketing Manager for Base Flow, highlights two deployments in Lake Titicaca in particular. One of the buoys is located on the Bolivian side of the lake, and the other is in Peruvian territory. The buoys track water quality, flow, and weather conditions continuously. Daniel shares that the project had such a positive impact on residents in the area that the local tribe not only supported the effort but also held a ceremonial blessing for the buoys.
In Guyana, Base Flow deployed multiple NexSens buoys in order to document seasonal trends, such as tides and pollution sources. The data collected from these deployments will help create a database that will serve as a basis for future analysis to establish national standards for their rivers. The buoys have been deployed for about a year and show that they are truly easy to maintain and access, sturdy, and functional.
Both of these projects exemplify a broader mission to provide critical data to developing regions. Daniel explains, “In many developing countries, monitoring clean water resources has become increasingly critical. We believe that the quality, durability, and affordability of NexSens buoys and equipment make them an ideal solution for this important work.”
