Temperature strings are frequently attached to mooring lines to keep them fixed in place vertically within a water column. This technique helps to ensure that temperature data is consistently being monitored at desired depths.

To mount the T-Node FR sensors to a mooring line, T-clamp sensor mooring clamps, cable ties and a mooring line will be needed.

Connect a T-Node FR sensor to the mooring line by first affixing a portion of the included neoprene strip to the concave back of the mooring clamp. Ensure that the concave back of the mooring clamp is clean and free of debris, and then affix the neoprene to the center of the back of the clamp. Note that the neoprene will overlap the two grooves on the clamp. Be careful not to remove the adhesive from the neoprene rubber – it is easy to pull off the adhesive when the paper backing is removed.

Next lay the sensor temperature string and mooring line on a flat surface. Run the mooring line through the groove on the front of the clamp. If the T-Clamp slides on the mooring line, install a layer of electrical tape around the line.

Position the clamp with the neoprene-padded side toward the sensor, near the middle of the sensor’s length. Ensure the sensor is seated firmly against the neoprene with the temperature sensing tip pointed outward and secure it in place using the cable ties on the top and bottom grooves of the clamp.

Tighten the cable ties and cut off any excess cable tie once fully tightened.

Repeat this process using a T-Clamp to secure each T-Node FR in the temperature string to a mooring line. Make sure to leave slack in the underwater connection cables between each node to minimize stress on the connections. This slack allotment should be kept in mind when determining where the temperature measurements will be taken in profile.
