What is the lifting capacity of a NexSens buoy?

  • NexSens XB- and CB-Series buoys are designed to support their own weight and can be lifted using the topside lifting eyes. One or more eyes may be used.
  • Do not lift moorings or anchors by the buoy. These must be lifted separately.
  • Large platform buoys (CB-650, CB-950, CB-1250) should not be lifted by the top ring. The ring cannot support the full buoy weight and may bend.
  • Always take care to avoid damage to solar panels, sensor mounts, and sensors attached to the instrument cage during lifting and handling.

Note: It is recommended to always lift a buoy independently of the mooring weight. While the mooring eyes can support heavy loads, the long threaded rods (attached to the eye nut) are only supported by the buoy foam. Thus, the buoy foam can be damaged if the buoy is lifted concurrently with the mooring weight and if not lifted wholly upright.
